This position of Technician Water Operations will form part of a multi-functional and diverse team supporting our Water Operations teams to safely and efficiently achieve departmental and BHP Billiton Olympic Dam business objectives. Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7, day shift only roster pattern arrangement. In this role you will:
  • Have a commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
  • Be responsible for completing activities across Water Operations and other departments in order to safely add value to business and improve efficiencies
  • Be able to identify and communicate hazards to water Operations team and broader company
  • Provide field support to the Water Operations team
  • Identify and report maintenance issues in regards to functionality of Desalination plant infrastructure
  • Collect field data and enter into BHP electronic data bases and Excel spreadsheets
  • Foster effective and productive working relationships across all internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to working in and promoting a health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
  • Be active in identifying and communicating improvements to procedures, processes or plant and participate in problem solving and troubleshooting of plant issues as required
  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day

  • Basic computer skills and understanding
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and procedures

  • Ability to interpret, make decisions and determine corrective actions based on data within a busy environment
  • Hold a current driving licence and be competent in driving manual vehicles
  • Good communication skills
