Come and be a part of this success.We are seeking a safety leader to join our Shutdown Execution team in Port Hedland in the role of Supervisor Maintenance Execution. Reporting to the Superintendent of Shutdown Execution, the successful candidate will be a leader in safe work practices. With a solid understanding of the mining and minerals industry, the Supervisor Maintenance Execution will bring not only their technical knowledge, but also their ability to work in a continuously evolving environment, while performing the following duties:

  • Supervise the

execution of mechanical maintenance activities on a broad range of

material handling equipment across the port facility, with a particular

focus on resource optimization, cost efficiency and safety management

  • Ensure the achievement

of business targets through thorough planning, while promoting a high

level of team collaboration and coordination

  • Execute and delegate

tasks to internal and external work groups, with a high degree of

professionalism and competence

  • Promote safe

working conditions and practices through field leadership participation,

championing crew generated safety improvements, safety meetings and risk

assessments

  • Collaborate with

internal functions to ensure work instructions and other processes are

continuously improved and documented

  • Lead and coach a

diverse work crew including BHP team members and contractors in the

achievement of maintenance and productivity targets through regular

interaction, informal reviews, performance appraisals, development

planning and communication of KPIs for the area

  • Ensure all processes

comply with the Mine Safety and Inspection Act and Mines Safety Inspection

Regulations (FRM-HIS-SAF-117 and Section 5.10 MSIR), as well as all BHPIO

safety standards

With this role, you have the choice of either being locally based in Port Hedland (residential), or fly-in fly-out from Perth to Port Hedland on a 8/6 7/7 roster. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities. The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife. Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • A safety focused

individual who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment

  • A highly effective

leader who is able to champion good work practices through their own

performance within the workplace, and hold team members to the same high

standard

  • Demonstrated

experience coordinating and delivering effective and successful plant

shutdown activities in a constantly changing work environment

  • Highly

developed analytical and problem solving skills, with a focus on

continuous improvement and stakeholder engagement

  • A sound

technical knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices

  • A

proactive, motivated problem solver who thrives in a changing and diverse

environment

  • Able to

quickly form trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders

across multiple areas of business

  • Demonstrated

experience and technical knowledge in balanced machine maintenance is

highly desirable

  • A

mechanical trades or engineering background is required for this role

  • High risk

license, whilst not mandatory, would be highly regarded
