About Coal

Our globally diversified Coal business produces thermal coal primarily for use in the electric power generation industry and high quality hard coking coal for use in the international and domestic steel industry, with operations in Australia, the United States, South America and Indonesia.

An exceptional opportunity exists for a highly motivated professional to join our Brisbane based Coal Geoscience team in a Superintendent Modelling role. Reporting to the Head of Geoscience, you will play an instrumental role in leading the update of the tactical geological models for our open cut mining operations. These provide the detail in the five year volume for mine design and production forecasting. In addition, your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and deliver the geological modelling schedule to ensure timely and relevant information is provided to stakeholders

  • Lead the development of practical and risk focussed action plans to address potential gaps in short range mining forecasts.

  • Lead an exciting program of continuous improvement, working with external and internal technology providers to work towards the delivery of 4D modelling.

  • Maintain

and develop software, systems and training for efficient geological

modelling; and

  • Ensure

that competencies for the geological modelling team are developed and

A passion for continuous improvement will contribute to the identification, development and implementation of improvement opportunities.


  • Tertiary

qualification in Engineering, Geoscience, or a related discipline.

  • Greater

than 5 years technical or leadership experience


  • Resource

industry and site based experience

  • Capability

with a modelling software package (such as Vulcan, GOCAD, Leapfrog)
