This project has potential to become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centres in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore.Lead the onsite Fixed Plant Improvement & reliability team to ensure optimal reliability and operating excellence of the Fixed Plant equipment through the implementation of reliability centered maintenance work strategies, elimination of defects through a root cause analysis process, supporting a Standardised work as well as operating philosophy.

Be the conduit for initiating engineering requests to the Engineering Function and to providing expert resources to the Engineering Function for the development of maintainability, reliability operating specifications and instructions to deliver operationally ready engineering projects.

Ensure statutory/legislative compliance of relevant equipment to standards that are recorded by Engineering. Provide organisational governance in the application of 1SAP processes and promote understanding and compliance to 1SAP principles.

Reporting to the Manager Fixed Plant Maintenance and Processing, some of your other duties will include:

  • Set and clearly communicate targets and expectations aligned with site and Fixed Plant Analysis and Improvement department goals and BHP values as well as lead, coach and mentor employees to deliver on plan and build a high performing team
  • Participate within the Fixed Plant Department to develop business plans consistent with site strategies/ plans and implement within the Fixed Plant Analysis and Improvement area
  • Support best practice through developing and embedding of functional systems, monitoring key performance measures and sustaining continuous improvement processes
  • Assist the Manager Fixed Plant Maintenance and Processing in identifying and implementing initiatives that contribute to current and potential value to the business from a Fixed Plant Improvement perspective, ensuring compliance to the Change Management Procedure

We are looking for an engineering qualified candidate at Degree level in an Engineering discipline or equivalent. Experience in defect elimination, manufacturing/processing and Continuous Improvement techniques would also be highly regarded.

Our preferred candidate should have great stakeholder leadership skills, strong communication, negotiation, and influencing and relationship management skills in addition to strong facilitation skills leading diverse groups of stakeholders and experts.

This role will be based in our Perth office initially for a minimum of 9 months and then transition to a fly in fly out basis to our South Flank site on a 5:2 4:3 FIFO roster. During your time in the Perth office, site travel will be required.
