Reporting to the Manager Studies (Olympic Dam) the Specialist Directional Studies will provide high quality technical and commercial studies to support major projects of greater than US$100m, and/or highly complex investments. In this role you will:

  • Support Manager Studies and

Principal Studies to deliver insightful and timely studies for growth

investments and for the current operation

  • Undertake technical and

commercial evaluations of mining, minerals processing and infrastructure

options

  • Support activities to

identify, frame and plan studies of potential value optimisation

initiatives

  • Execute study plans, in

conjunction with functional teams, and prepare detailed study inputs and

reports in line with BHP guidelines

  • Maintain a deep understanding

of the key value drivers, scope, cost, schedule and risk for respective

areas of the operation and projects

  • Prepare and maintain detailed

cost benchmarking and analysis models for respective areas of

responsibility

  • Develop understanding of risk

and uncertainties, consider control measures, impact and probability

  • Comply to and consistently

follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely

and effectively every day

  • Degree

qualification in Engineering, Commerce, Economics or Project Management

  • Exposure to

underground mining is advantageous, as well as minerals processing or

energy/utility environments

  • Proven experience

in major project study or execution

  • Ability to

produce cost and production modelling as well as benchmarking

  • Advanced analytic

and excel skills (including scenario / risk modelling)

  • Strategic

planning, budgeting and forecasting experience within a commercial

environment

  • Advanced report

writing and communication skills

  • Proven commitment to look

themselves in harm’s way.
