The Role

We have an opportunity for an experienced ICT Engineer to join our Newcastle based team to join our building services team. This role will give you the opportunity to connect with a large technical team comprised of a diverse range of disciplines, solving complex technical challenges.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking engineering design from concept through detailed design phase

  • Managing project stakeholder engagement and project brief confirmation and sign off

  • Coordinating electrical and communications provider requirements

  • Coordinating enabling design provisions including cooling and redundancy requirements

  • Producing design documentation using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Visio and mark-ups for AutoCAD Revit

  • Design of Communications structured cabling systems, outside communications plant and optical fibre in a Defence environment. There will be a significant support and training to develop these skills from a core electrical and communications competency

  • Coordinating interfaces to the electrical and communications network including security, AV, BMS, and fire protection

  • Undertaking site inspections, liaise with contractors, review technical submissions from contractors, and review the quality of construction against the specified requirements

About You

You will have a strong technical background and your attention to detail, ability to prioritise tasks and communicate effectively will help you to work with the broader team to deliver the right solution, on time, every time. You will contribute to the growth and development of the team by identifying new business opportunities and responding to tender briefs.

You will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience delivering electrical and communications design within a defence, buildings or industrial setting

  • The ability to coordinate and liaise effectively with clients and contractors, and experience of construction phase assistance and inspections

  • A high level of client focus
