The role
**Our Corporate team in Sydney is experiencing ongoing and exciting growth. Working with David Wilkie and Kylie de Oliveira, this is an exceptional opportunity for a Corporate lawyer to join a supportive, solid and integrated team working on extremely high profile, major transactions that are market leading.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for advising global funds on the investment and divestment in all alternative assets classes, including Real Estate and Infrastructure. This work includes corporate advisory, public and private mergers and acquisitions, equity investments, joint ventures and foreign investment.

The role offers an opportunity to not just be a lawyer, but to be a trusted commercial and legal advisor to our top tier clients including Blackstone, Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing, JP Morgan and Invesco, each of which have instructed the team on numerous transactions over the past two years. As a senior member of the team, you will have significant exposure to clients, playing a leading role on key aspects of transactions, including negotiations and drafting. You will also be an independent thinker, who is comfortable leading and mentoring junior lawyers and project managing matters through to completion. The successful candidate will work across many practice areas of Clayton Utz drawing on specialist skills including taxation, managed investment trust advice, competition, real estate, major projects, finance, debt capital markets, IT and IP.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • At least 5 years' post-qualified experience across a range of corporate matters in a (preferably top tier) firm environment
  • A strong academic record
  • Self- motivated with a focus on commercial advice and an entrepreneurial flair
  • Curious and always asking the next question and having the next answer
  • The ability to drive matters forward
  • Ability to see the big picture but handle the detail
  • The ability to prioritise your time across a number of busy matters
  • A strong client service focus and work ethic; great resilience
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills - required for building client relationships and maintaining a positive team environment
  • An ambitious and focused determination to take your career to the next level
