Reporting to the Manager of Technical Services & Data Integration, you will ensure that high quality structural geology data collection, analysis and interpretation is incorporated in all levels of geological interpretation and modelling – from regional scale to detailed orebody model and to the pit. The structural geologist will enable this through bedding down structural geology capability within the Geoscience team through onsite training and technical workshops, stewardship of training and competency matrices and ongoing reviews of geologist competency. Another focus for this role is to work collaboratively with Principal geologists and other geoscientists to develop integrated structural evolution of iron ore deposits in Pilbara.
It is expected that about 30% of time for this role will be spent on site training and mentoring site geologists.
The successful candidate should have:
Tertiary qualification in Geology and postgraduate qualification in structural geology desirable;
Demonstrated Field experience as a structural geologist – integration of regional and local structures;
Strong working experience in Mine/Field geology and geological modelling;
Strong communication skills; formal and informal, verbal and written. The ability to influence stakeholders by setting direction and providing sufficient communications to encourage buy-in and commitment at all levels.
