It’s an exciting time to be at Olympic Dam as we move into the Southern Mine Area which hasn’t been touched in the first 25 years of operation.

Reporting the Manager Strategic Planning, the Principal Strategic Mine Design and Innovation is an influential position which will focus on realising the full value of the Olympic Dam Asset through the delivery of strategic mine designs / concepts and innovative solutions for the asset.

This role is based in our Adelaide office.

In this role you will:

  • Work closely with study

teams, medium-term planning, operations and other Principals to generate

high quality strategic mine designs, with a clearly articulated the value


  • Actively engage and promote

the benefit of the strategic mine designs

  • Provide specialist mining

technical knowledge

  • Develop Life of Asset Mine

designs to support the annual planning cycle

  • Complete / co-ordinate the

annual Ore Reserve Statement

  • Maintain an up-to-date

knowledge of innovation and technology advancements in the industry

  • Complete cost models for

Investment Preferred Studies and maintain a valuation model to allow

comparison between mine planning scenarios

  • Incorporate safety,

technology, master plans, infrastructure, congestions, sequencing and

system constraints considerations into all strategic designs

  • Mentoring Mining Engineers

  • A high level strategic

thinker with developed analytical skills to draw conclusions from data

  • Capable to sign off on Ore

Reserve statements

  • Proven experience in a

long-term planning role (Underground exposure is advantageous)

  • Technically competent in

complex ore bodies

  • Proficient in Deswik


  • Confident in stakeholder

engagement, influencing, and communication

  • Proven commitment to look

after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put

themselves in harm’s way
