We are seeking a talented individual for the role of Specialist Mine Scheduling based at Blackwater Mine Site. Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Scheduling, you will use your mine planning skills and experience to create short term mine designs and maintain the 12 week mine schedule. In this busy and challenging role, you will use your strong communication and collaboration skills to develop effective working relationships with production and medium-term planning teams in order to ensure the efficient execution of your plans and schedules.

In this role you will:

  • Prepare Dragline/Dozer Push/Prestrip/Drill and Blast/Coal Mining designs and schedules;
  • Identify and implement Mine Planning improvement initiatives;
  • Work with Operations to execute mine plans;
  • Develop and follow the Mine Planning standards and processes;
  • Participate in the investigation of reported events for Mine Planning;
  • Participate in training for Mine Planning;
  • Use your experience to develop graduates and peers;

The Mine Scheduling department is a multi-discipline, multi-role work environment. Mine Schedulers are encouraged to gain experience in all areas of the Scheduling department. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to spend time in each discipline as business needs and personal development align.

As the successful candidate, you will have a tertiary education in Mining Engineering, similar Engineering equivalent and previous experience working at an Open cut Coal Mining operation.

A strong working knowledge of the following software packages is essential:

  • Vulcan Mine Design
  • XACT Scheduling
  • Microsoft Office suite

Experience with the following will be highly regarded:

  • Haul Infinity/haulage software
  • Blastlogic
  • mRoc Desktop
  • Modular Provision
  • SAP software packages

Understanding of coal quality, extraction and blending processes.
