About the opportunity

Alcoa’s Bauxite Centre of Excellence business unit is seeking a Mine Engineering professional to join their team in this new exciting position.

Reporting to the Pacific Technical Manager, this role is to ensure that the Alcoa Bauxite business will develop and implement best practice site mine engineering practices that are transferable and scalable across and between the different mine operations, both current and future ones.

The work is achieved through the systematic refinement of existing or development and implementation of new site-focussed mine engineering tasks ranging from short range planning, operational scheduling, mine and infrastructure designs, drill & blast design, reconciliation of mine operations processes & various reporting, and equipment performance analysis.

This role will see you be seconded for a given period to an individual site to develop and implement the best practice processes and required site capability.

For the right candidate, flexible work arrangements would be considered for this role. Please let us know when you apply if this is something you are seeking.

About you

Our values – act with integrity, operate with excellence, care for people – are at the foundation of everything we do.

To be successful in this role and to play a part in our ongoing success you will have tertiary qualifications in Mine Engineering or a relevant discipline and need to demonstrate capability in, and understanding of, identifying, developing and implementing “best mine engineering practices”.

In developing best practice methodologies and processes, the incumbent must consider the trade-offs between “local optimisation” versus “global standardisation” to transfer best practices across our different operations.

Ideally, you will have substantial experience preferably in many facets of large scale bulk Mining Operations, Mine Engineering or Mine Planning, strong problem solving and analytical skills, as well as effective communication and interpersonal skills to work within multi-disciplinary teams.
