The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity being advertised to join the NSW Maritime Division at Roads and Maritime Services as the Manager Operations – Hawkesbury River / Broken Bay. In this role you will be responsible for the coordination of waterway management in the Hawkesbury River/Broken Bay area, and oversee asset and resource management to deliver efficient and effective services to meet defined outcomes.

As the Manager Operations you will provide high level advice and assistance to senior staff, and maintain external stakeholder relationships through effective community engagement. Other responsibilities will include:
  • Managing operations of the Hawkesbury River/Broken Bay area including financial management, risk management, business continuity and planning to ensure delivery of organisational objectives.
  •  Delivering a strategic program for the management of the area’s resources including vessels, vehicles, and Aids to Navigation.
  • Supporting the Principal Manager (Sydney) on operational activities, services and special events including high level programs and projects to ensure effective decision making and resolution of complex issues. 
  • Assessing impacts to navigation and managing development applications, aquatic licences and other proposals including reviewing and approving requests in accordance with the Environmental and Planning Assessment Act.

Remuneration package: RMS Maritime Officer 16AA ($153,181), plus employer's contribution to superannuation

Essential requirements
  • Possession of a current marine qualification (such as Coxswain or higher) or senior level management in the maritime sector relevant to NSW Maritime with knowledge of marine, environmental and other legislation relevant to NSW waterways.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of RMS Maritime products and services and ability to develop plant and equipment maintenance and replacement programs.
