IBM Research – Australia internship in IoT at the Edge and energy management

IBM Research Australia is a young, proud and diverse community working on industry solutions, conceiving, designing and building next generation enterprise systems in areas such as Internet of Things (IoT) and renewable energy.
IBM Research in Melbourne is looking for an intern to join an IoT project in a group doing exciting work involving Edge/Cloud, renewable energy, and building energy management. A broad range of skills is beneficial, but core requirements are Python, Java and nodeJS. Experience with IoT devices and networking is also valuable – along with Jersey and MongoDB. We have a number of projects ranging from the device level to the computation and networking side, so a broad background is helpful.
What will I be doing?
- Developing research assets to connect and use IoT devices optimally
- Working with data from IoT devices to improve building energy efficiency
- Some work with actual IoT hardware devices and Raspberry pi’s.
What skills will I need?
What experience do I need?
- Writing code and contributing to git repository
- Some data analysis
- Understanding computer networks and ssh etc. is desired
