This project has potential to become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centres in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore. This is a rare opportunity for a dynamic individual to be part of something big – to work in an innovative team, with evolving technology, and playing a pivotal role in creating a world class mine.We are looking for an energetic HSE Superintendent to enable a team of HSE professionals to support the South Flank integrated project team (IPT) in the delivery of HSE management of the project. The HSE Superintendent will actively support the IPT team during the planning and execution of the South Flank Project. This includes coaching, monitoring, management, implementation and review of Plans, and verification and reporting. You will partner with South Flank IPT to support the delivery of HSE ‘Back to Basics’ coaching quality of field leadership, significant event investigation quality and task-based risk management on the project. In addition, you will support the deployment of improvement initiatives defined by the HSE Analysis and Improvement sub-function. Reporting to the Manager HSE, your other duties will include:

  • Leading a team of HSE advisors in Perth, facilitate effective implementation of the HSE program on the project
  • With regular routine site travel, support execution of strategic initiatives and innovative HSE improvements with site based HSE teams
  • Be innovative to support the HSE delivery strategy and development of necessary systems to set up the South Flank project for success
  • Reviewing tenders & contracts for alignment with BHP and South Flanks operational strategies
  • In a business partnership style, coach execution teams around HSE obligations and upskill Integrated Project Team members in BHP processes and systems
  • Working closely with contracts and procurement to coordinate ‘front end loading’ HSE deliverables and strategic objectives aligned to risk and scope
  • A strong focus on analysis and improvement
  • Analysing HSE trends to report and devise initiatives with Package leads and coordinating with site HSE teams.
  • Support relevant IPT package managers to ensure that contractors are set up for success and ready to be mobilised on site
  • Developing robust HSE management plans through different phases of the project
  • Aligning of strategic objectives from the broader BHP business
  • Interrogate performance data and develop initiatives as required

As the successful candidate, you will possess:

  • Tertiary Degree in relevant field preferred or advanced diploma in HSE at a minimum
  • Significant industry experience
  • Major project experience
