About the Role
This is an exciting entry level opportunity to joins AGL’s Wholesale Markets team and operate in the National Electricity Market. You would be part of a team directly responsible managing AGL’s wholesale electricity procurement costs through the commercial operation of AGL’s generation assets. Your role is to optimise AGL’s position across all regions in the National Electricity Market (NEM), whilst managing fuel requirements and generation asset outages.
Submitting offers and rebids for AGL's wind, solar, gas, hydro and coal generation to the National Electricity Market (NEM) for dispatch:
- Ensure optimal dispatch of AGL generation assets through short term planning, including fuel requirements and co-ordination of power station outages
- Ensure the business is compliant with all National Electricity Market rules and internal policies and procedures
- Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environment Systems and goals are introduced and adhered to while meeting the organisations policies and standards for HSE Managements.
- Demonstrate the AGL values by acting in the best interests of AGL at all times and working together across the business to create the best overall results and decisions.
To be considered for this role, you will be tertiary qualified in a quantitative discipline. You will have a track record over many years of exceeding expectations in your roles, and are looking for opportunities to challenge yourself in the future. You are a highly motivated individual open to new ideas and prepared to go above and beyond what is expected. You will be an effective communicator, with the ability to work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders. This role does require you to be flexible with your working hours as you will be a member of a 24x7 shift roster team. An understanding of the National Electricity Market or trading experience may be beneficial but not essential.
