**We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Step-Up Supervisor in the Kalgoorlie Smelter Maintenance Function. The Step-Up Supervisor is a key role reporting to and assisting the Maintenance Supervisor in the Services Maintenance Workshop. As the Step-Up Supervisor, the role responsibilities will include assisting the with daily task allocation, rostering, reporting and general supervision activities, including filling in as the Supervisor from time to time. The position will require you to work ‘on the tools’ and your strong background as a Mechanical Fitter will enable you to mentor the team. Key stakeholders include engineering, planning, project teams, and the other maintenance teams as well as our contracting partners and vendors.

Nickel West Kalgoorlie

Kalgoorlie is the largest inland city in Western Australia and due to its central location is positioned at the heart of the Goldfields as a vibrant mining town and a major gateway to the Eastern States. Although fairly isolated, the City of Kalgoorlie/Boulder offers modern shopping facilities, a huge variety of sports, and schooling for all ages up to high school. There are contemporary housing options for all budgets, sporting clubs and leisure complexes of all descriptions.

The Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter receives nickel concentrate from our mining operations in Leinster and Mt Keith as well as from our Third Party Feed concentrator in Kambalda. Nickel West Kalgoorlie incorporates a flash furnace smelter, converters and an acid plant which has the capacity to produce up to 110,000 tonnes per annum of nickel matte.

All Kalgoorlie roles are residential, FIFO is not an option. Nickel West Kalgoorlie is a non-smoking operation

You will have previous experience working as a mechanical fitter with a solid understanding of fixed plant, as well as a background in power generation, air separation or chemical processing. You will ideally have a record of accomplishment working as a leading hand or leadership/team leading positions.

You will be a team player, have great communication skills and above all, have a strong orientation to safe work practices.

Skills and Experience;

  • Current

or previous experience in a leadership role;

  • Trade

qualified as a mechanical fitter;

  • Solid

history and knowledge in fixed plant maintenance in a heavy

engineering/mining environment;

  • Sound

problem diagnosing and solving skills;

  • Excellent

interpersonal and communication skills;

  • Able

to mentor, coach and guide a team; and

  • Computer

literate with 1SAP experience or similar would be highly regarded.
