Werribee Mercy is a fast growing general Hospital serving the needs of the western growth corridor of suburban and outer suburban Melbourne. It provides emergency services, acute medical and surgical services, psychiatric and maternity services to the adults, children and families of the region. As part of our expansion to meet the needs of the local community a general paediatric ward is to be established, along with an expanded outpatient paediatric service, a growth and development review service, and an expanded adolescent health service. The Clinical Director of Paediatrics will be instrumental in the development and implementation of these services. The Clinical Director will help establish the new paediatric ward, working closely with surgical and medical specialities, the special care nursery unit, and the emergency department.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Located at Werribee Mercy Hospital

  • Provide leadership for the current paediatric services

  • Lead the expansion of outpatient and inpatient paediatric services

  • 0.5 EFT. Opportunities for private practice or additional clinical appointments subject to negotiation.

  • Staff management. In conjunction with the Clinical Director of Women's and Children's services Mercy Health, is responsible for the management of consultant paediatric staff and supporting the Clinical Director of the SCN in managing the existing SCN VMO and junior medical staff.

  • For the appropriate clinician this role could be combined with the Clinical Director of Special Care Nursery role (see WMH 221).

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE:

  • Registered with the Australian Health Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with specialist qualifications in Paediatrics which are recognised by the National Qualification Advisory Committee of Australia.

  • A strong background in specialist paediatric and/or neonatology practice as relevant to the role.

  • Experience in service and program development is desirable.

  • Experience in paediatric emergency department management and coordination of paediatric emergency services is preferred.

  • Demonstrated Leadership abilities and an involvement in teaching at an undergraduate and postgraduate level is required.
